On average, a 4 mile trip through Edinburgh takes longer than coming to GWS where we have free, safe parking right at our door.

Welcome to Our Studio!

Our spacious, out-of-town studio is the perfect place to relax and enjoy your photoshoot. Set in beautiful rural surroundings close to Edinburgh, you’ll quickly relax and forget about the daily cares of life. We do everything we can to create a warm and welcoming environment, making sure you have a great experience and get the most natural photos for you and your family.

The location was chosen to be close to Edinburgh so you can venture out in peace… no traffic stress … no parking dilemas… just a lovely relaxing photo shoot.

Parking: Limited metered bays at £4.60/hour. Finding a space can take extra time and effort.

Distance: approx. 12 miles
Driving Time (peak): 25–30 minutes via Edinburgh Bypass
Parking: Free, safe parking right outside the studio

Craigentinny to Inverleith

Distance: approx. 4.5 miles
Driving Time (peak): 30–40 minutes
Parking: Often tight. Metered spaces. Can add 10–15 mins to find a spot.

Craigentinny to GWS Photography

Distance: approx. 14 miles
Driving Time (peak): 30–35 minutes
Parking: Free and easy—right at the door

Blackhall to Slateford

Distance: approx. 5.5 miles

Why Wheatrig?

This is GWS’s fourth East Lothian studio, as we develop our services and facilities to constantly improve. Our new Wheatrig studio opened in February 2022, with the location chosen specifically to be close enough to Edinburgh, but being rural and totally peaceful to enhance the amazing shoots we have fine tuned over the years. The studio is easy to find and we’re also able to offer free parking at our door all day.

Incredible experience. We had a bump to baby photoshoot with Leanne and she was amazing! So lovely, sweet, tentative and professional. During our bump shoot she made us feel so comfortable and was so good with our excited 4 year old.

I can’t thank Leanne enough for the beautiful photos of my 5 week old baby girl. She was absolutely amazing with her, so calm and patient with my little girl, I even learnt a few tips from her myself. Grahame even travelled to meet me closer to home to deliver my photos which was a great help, I appreciate them going over and above.

We weren't sure what to expect when we booked for a family photo shoot . We were greeted at the door by Grahame and from then on had a really great shoot. Kids relaxed and Grahame managed to capture some really great natural happy smiles. Kids thought of the shoot as a great day out rather than a chore of getting photos taken. Graeme and Ali both absolutely brilliant.

Amazing from start to finish! Grahame did our wedding photos back in 2019 and then the lovely Leanne did a shoot with our twins and even managed to get a family shot of us too. Very relaxed, personal and the viewing afterwards is such a special touch. We are back at the end of the year for a cake smash shoot!

Fantastic experience with Grahame and Ali. I unfortunately had to reschedule my appointment for my dog’s photoshoot twice- they could not have been more understanding! The communication was always excellent- via text and email. On the shoot day they were brilliant with my dog who can be stand offish and wary of strangers- they greeted her with such excitement she was immediately at ease.

Grahame and Ali were so friendly and amazing at getting our 9 month old to relax and got some amazing photos that we'll cherish. It was a very thorough photo shoot and was a lovely way to spend the afternoon. They also managed to get me and my partner to get some decent shots which was a miracle given our preference to stay behind the camera!
