You can make this as easy as you want – and as affordable as you need it to be, but at GWS we will give you many options to have your baby photos exactly as you want them… digital, print, canvas or frames… we have a studio full of samples for you to browse through while you are here for your session.

Bringing your baby to the studio should feel exciting, not stressful. We’ve photographed over 500 newborns and babies, and our team is fully trained to keep your little one comfortable and safe throughout. You can sit back, enjoy a coffee, and know you’re in experienced hands.

Maternity – 30 + weeks – whenever bump is big 🙂
Newborn – First two to six weeks for perfect, sleepy newborns, but it’s also still very beautiful up to 3 months old.
Baby – 4 months to 7 months. More awake, but those lovely first smiles!
Sitter Sessions – Around 7-10 months on (or when your child is self-supporting and sitting up)
1 year old – Cake Smash or paint party !

It’s best to book before baby arrives — we’re one of the busiest baby studios in Scotland and often book 3–6 weeks ahead. If baby is early or late, we’ll reschedule for free.
Can me and my partner and older kids be in a few photos?
Absolutely — we love including parents and siblings. Some of the most popular images chosen are the family ones.
Can we bring the family dog ?
No, not to the newborn shoot – mostly for health & safety reasons – but also there’s just not a good photo to get a newborn and dog – BUT hang on… we DO offer an amazing top up shoot / sitter session with doggy that is amazing and will give you the complete family set of photos.
How much does it cost and what is included?
It’s £35 to book the full Baby Experience . After that, you only buy what you love. Most families invest £300–£950. Our studio is full of wall art, display boxes and beautiful prints you can see when you visit.
What about packages?
We are very much one of the best studios in the country for the choice of ways to have your photos. In our about Pages above there is a section called Product & Prices with a few examples, but essentially we do packages from £199, and there’s choices of digitals, prints, frames, canvas, books, box sets and so much more. One of the most popular choices is our presentation box of four extra large professional prints with digital copies for £495. You can fill your home with these amazing prints, give some to grannies and share your photos on social media.
Where are you based?
Our studio is just outside Edinburgh, on farmland with easy access from the A1. You’ll avoid city traffic and parking stress — just drive up, park right at the door (for free, all day), and relax. Perfect for families from Edinburgh, the Lothians, and Fife.
What if my baby doesn’t settle?
That’s normal! We allow plenty of time, take breaks whenever needed, and never rush. A relaxed baby makes for the best photos — and we’ve got the patience of saints.
Is my baby safe?
Absolutely. We’ve photographed hundreds of babies and our photographers are trained to work safely and gently at all times. Your baby’s comfort always comes first.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome from Ali where she took us through to the room for the photo shoot for our newborn daughter. We met Leanne who was brilliant with the little one! We also took home some great tips to soothe her (thanks again for them). During the shoot, of course we had the family ones taken which were perfect! It was all about my baby girl, we were able to sit back, relax and sip coffee and have little snacks provided by the team at GWS! Grahame came through and introduced himself, all of us had a great laugh and conversation too. At no point did we feel pressured into taking any packages at all and we had time to go away and think about it before making a decision which was just brilliant. Of course we couldn’t help ourselves and knew straight away we couldn’t leave a single picture out as they were just fabulous! The big reveal date felt like months away but we were so eager to see them and I’m glad we picked GWS, seeing all the pictures of our little girl on screen just made my heart melt and I nearly cried ha!
