Studio Photographer of the Year Award
11th November 2013
I'm normally on the ball... on top of everything, quick to respond... first to tell of any exciting news from the photography camp here... but this one almost slipped by without me reporting it. Long story for another day.
Anyhoos... I was told about winning an award from the IPPN... That's The International Professional Photographers Network - back in March.
It was no less the Studio Photographer of the Year for 2012's submitted monthly competitions.
How about that !?
Big thanks to Simon for chasing me for a bit in March to tell me about it, but (confession time) was going through a crazy period then, then full on wedding season started and here we are. Got my breath back and checked back on my list of things to do... oh yeah... won a braw award with a quality organisation.
The IPPN is a great organisation,in the time I've been a member there, I've learned a lot, found out about new products, learned new ways of working etc. Well worth looking into if you are a photographer.
Indeed, if you are serious about photography at all, you should push yourself towards some type of qualification.
The IPPN is great for pros or semi-pros, or perhaps those thinking about it... while for all kinds of photographers - hobbyists or season pros... The Royal Photographic Society is a great place to look.
Getting a qualification with bodies like those can be tough... but very rewarding.
It's all fine your family saying how good your photos are, but we all need good critique from experienced people with good intentions at heart.
So... here's to the IPPN and the guys & gals that keep on doing the right things... helping us all develop our profession.
So what for 2014 studio work ?
Not got anything 100% finalised yet, but the plan is still to be in the new place for around February. If we're going to move, we want to make it worth the trauma :)
Thanks also to all our wonderful studio clients & models for all the Cat's Row sessions in helping me get this award... big up to you all !!
By Sheon Cairns: Congratulations Mr Smith! Well done you! x
By Jane Boag: that's well deserved, well done.
