Nicola & Jamie's wedding at Carberry Tower

03rd March 2016
Ahhh the winter weather gods are once again smiling on us as we shot another wedding photography day at the fabulous Carberry Tower.

You can get the best out of Carberry Tower photos in all seasons & weathers, with the lovely big grounds and fabby house, but when you have a February wedding, yes let's call it a winter wedding, and the sun shines, the wind goes away for that one day then you know that if anyone was to book another photographer to shoot their wedding at Carberry, then it will no doubt be storms & disasters.
That's what I think anyway.

So, Saturday was the big day for Nicola & Jamie. Me 'n our Annie rolled up quite early to say our hellos, check out the grounds and test the girls for nerves. All good.
So good in fact, I left Annie there to take care of the make up shots and I went off to the pub with the guys. Quite literally.
The Salters in Dalkeith, home of a few of my scooter buddies and today, the groomsmen were in there warming up for the day ahead.

I hung around with the gents for half an hour while Annie did some make up shots, and darted around Carberry Tower photographing all the details.

When we met back up it was nearing the "nervous ninety", the last hour and a half before the actual wedding, when the bride usually can't pretend she's not nervous any more and things get more excitable.

Before too long we were on our way across to the Ceilidh Hall at Carberry with Nicola looking amazing, and the bridesmaids suitably dolled up too... as they & dad were marched over with Bill & Billy the two pipers. ( I forget which one was Bill , and which one Billy - gen up!).

After an introduction at the start of the ceremony it was suggested that I sit down out the way by the celebrant of the day. Not what we had planned... but I've just turned 50 so a wee seat wasn't a bad thing.

Soon though, we were in the rose garden firing through the family shots, and barring a slight dress mishap everything was going just fine.
We gave Nicola & Jamie 15 minutes peace to chat, warm up and have a wee drink, before doing a quick 20 minutes run around the grounds and the big tree for some pretty cool wedding photos if I do say so myself.
The good thing about having Annie shooting and helping with lights is the different angles and fun she catches whilst I'm setting up the big dramatic sky pictures.

Nicola & Jamie are an amazing couple to work with and were totally into their day, it always makes our day a hoot as we whizz from one section of the day to the next at 100mph.

We were only shooting up to the afternoon on this beautiful wedding day, and left the new Mr & Mrs Allen during the speeches.

The slideshow of the day is above, and some other photos are below, and for the first time ever... I'm letting Annie loose on the Blog to let her tell us her teenage photographer's view on the day.

For you guys wanting to see the full portfolio of photos (well over 400) they will be in our Gallery section over the weekend. You'll need a password to access them, which you will be able to get from Nicola and Jamie - once they themselves have viewed them :)

In the meantime... here's to Nicola & Jamie, Mr & Mrs Allen !

** Annie's notes & a selection of pix...

Hello everyone! This is my time to share my thoughts on the day and I can easily say that I loved being back at Carberry for a kick off for my February weddings but also that I loved Nicola and Jamie too, such a fun, lovely couple who always done their best to make sure me and dad were comfortable, happy and not hungry! (Thankyou for the canapes! very tasty)
More recently dad has been giving me more freedom to play around to develop my own photography style, I definitely enjoy this new format as you never know what kind photos you're going to get. Personally I enjoy the candid, detail shots as you can see from the photos shown as I feel they capture the hidden moments that are usually missed throughout weddings whether it be the bride laughing or the sun reflecting on the dress. Also enjoyed working with the new Fujifilm cameras that are much lighter to carry with features that even work with my glasses that are usually in the way!
Overall, I had such a lovely day at Carberry with Nichola and Jamie although it was chilly that didn't stop us getting some beautiful pictures and I hope they had as much fun as me and dad did sharing it with them (and that they enjoy the photos too)

Best wishes for the future for Nichola, Jamie and little Archie!

Annie :)
