Monthly Awards

15th August 2014
I was chuffed to get a few mentions with 2 professional photography organisations for July.

A bronze award from The IPPN (link at bottom) for one of my favourite wedding photos from the start of the season with Angela & Gary who had their wedding at Culcreuch Castle.

I love the genuine intensity of the photo. All just window light, and over the course of about 2 minutes Angela & Gary moved closer, keeping their eyes locked on one another.
I just let it happen. Lovely and true.

And in July, I had 3 Highly Commended pictures in various categories with the SWPP.
In the Pets group... a close up of Bubba. Something different I thought.

Watch out for lots more pet pics as we now have a gorgeous new puppy at home :)

In Wedding Photojournalistic, another favourite of mine, this time from Lynsey & Graham's Wedding.
This was a case of seeing a picture, and making minor tweaks to get it there... asking sister Viki to move to the left, get mum on the chair... the young girls were doing their part already.

And one you've seen before... my Death of a Clown Photo, this time in the Black & White group.

This photo - part of a series to follow - was spotted on a previous recce to the sight. As soon as I came across the old room, I knew what I wanted. Good friend, colleague and himself - photographer/artist, Martin McHale, was the model for the shot. All done in a few minutes as the previous recce (shown below) gave me the basics of settings to use.

And the award winners bigger....
Need to get on with August's entries now.

And the links to these 2 excellent photography sites...
