Julie & Stephen's wedding at The Marine Hotel, North Berwick

04th October 2016
Sunday weddings can mix my head up quite easily. They are becoming more popular, but I still go around thinking it's Saturday, and especially when it's such a big wedding as this... and this was a biggie.

Julie & Stephen had a good number of guests there and with many of them being of the rugby fraternity, they were all up for a good day.

I'd arranged to meet Julie & daughter Geneveive at their house in the morning, but when I got there Julie advised me they were running quite late, I still spent half an hour or so getting a few set up shots, dress , hair & make up, - really just to see if there was any chance of Julie being dress ready before I was scheduled to leave.... but there was no chance of that :) in fact, Julie did a great job of being the traditional late bride.
Quite right too.
In fact, it was quite funny , as we all (including Genevieve & Allison - the bridesmaids who had been dropped off already) stood outside waiting for a while - with Stephen looking on from the stairs of the function suite... I asked Genevieve if her mum was all ready to go when she left (just in case maybe the car had broken down on the way) but she told me "she wasn't even in her dress when we left!". Ooops lol.

Not to worry though, a few minutes later she was here and we were off, a we bit late , but so what.
A few pics outside, then I ran off to get ready for the ceremony.
It was a beautiful wedding ceremony that had a special inclusion for Julie, Stephen and Genevieve - about making them not just a couple, but a family - really nice touch. Then we all slowly made our way through to the drinks reception.
It got a bit difficult for me to plan how to best shoot the family shots & bride & groom pics with so many people everywhere. I've shot many weddings with big crowds but somehow today it was like trying to get through a ruck (see what I did there), but we managed to get all the essential stuff in the bag , just before the staff came looking for the wedding party to start the afternoon's proceedings.

I plonked down in the bar area for an hour and supped on a bottle of water until it was time for the speeches and got my old knees up again.
I'd planned on a few nice shots in the library & lobby, but Julie & Stephen nipped up to their room for a bit to freshen up so I just followed the guests around then set up for the dancing.

It was all a really nice fun & loving day, Stephen & Julie seemed to be having a ball , and at night some of Genevieve's pals came to keep the average age down a wee bit during the dancing :)
So a cracking day, with everyone just enjoying themselves.
How a wedding should be.

If you haven't already ( I know I tried to do this a few times during the afternoon with my ipad, but everyone seemed to think they were getting passed an ipad to browse the web??) you can register to view the photos at the link below. Then, once Julie & Stephen have seen them all they full Gallery will be released to all the guests to see.

In the meantime... enjoy the highlights slideshow, and please feel free to leave a comment below...

Thank you to Stephen & Julie for having me at their big day.
