Helen & James's wedding at Orocco Pier

28th January 2016
Helen & James's wedding at The Orocco Pier in South Queensferry, our first wedding photography gig of 2016, and it couldn't come quick enough... we were champing at the bit to get going this year, especially knowing that Helen & James are a real fun couple that we knew were going to have a wonderful day.

We parked up quite a bit down the road due to the road being dug up near the venue and lugged everything we think we'd need for the day - including a set of white brollies - yomping along through the morning drizze to the Orocco Pier, where we dropped off our kit bags and rifles (that's what is felt like) and checked in at reception asking them to ring up to Helen so she knew to expect us.

And our real working day commenced, the girls in various states of hair & make-up all having a laugh and enjoying their morning, while James and best man John were downstairs building the cake. An exciting blend of traditional wedding cake and Lego.
Yes, Lego.
I wasn't sure about the wee photographer on top with full head of grey hair though :/

As every wedding day does, time suite slid away until we were at the crucial last 45 minutes before ceremony time, and the girls were honing in on final touches and climbing into dresses.
We took the button hole flowers down to the guys so we could get a couple of shots of our now kilted groomsmen, before heading back upstairs again for the final bridal shots before kick off.

Helen was a tot late - but that's a bride's prerogative after all.
The ceremony went through effortlessly, even a small insiders joke from our newly weds to a story I'd told them, and before we knew it the champers was out and we were doing a few group shots in the courtyard.

I'd kept one eye on the sky all day as it had went from drizzle/rain to post wet deep colours, Helen & James noticed me noticing this and we all opted for running along to the end of the pier outside Orocco Pier (see what I did there) and captured what we all think were some lovely pics with the Forth Bridge looking one way, and some amazing sky when we turned the other way.

Before long we had our lovely couple in ready for speeches & wedding breakfast, a short (more windy spell at the pier) then in for meeting our night time guests before the big dance off !

The day all went as brilliantly as we'd all hoped and expected.
You really just know some mornings that "today's going to be a good one..."
We're lucky enough to be able to say that at most - nah.... ALL of our wedding days.

On a side note... a small fun tale... on the way up in the car as I'm telling Annie who everyone was, the make up of the day and the names of the "A Listers" including Helen's daughter Chloe... Annie nearly choked on her Frosties breakfast bar "Chloe ?? Chloe Hume ? From Bonnyrigg ?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"That's my pal from college, the one who's party you dropped me off at at Christmas time!"

Small world eh.

When I tried to tell Helen this on the morning of the wedding, it kinda came out as "... so as it turns out, I've been sat outside your house in my car..."
"Stalker!" she laughed.
Ah .... the fun we have eh.

So back to the wedding.
A fantastic day, a great couple with shared interests... James like me, loves Vespas, Helen.. well.. doesn't, she likes bikes... I supoose my brides just can't be perfect all the time then :)

The slideshow from the day is above folks ^^ and a small sample of other pics below.
The full portfolio is in our Gallery Section now.
You'll need the password from our new Mr & Mrs Beedie to access it though and order lots and lots of copies.

Here's to Helen & James, an amazing couple and a brilliant start to 2016 !
