Happy Christmas... 2016 a year to remember & forget.

23rd December 2016
I'd like to just first of all say that I hope everyone we've met over 2016 has a lovely Christmas. No matter what your beliefs are it would be nice that everyone is happy and has time to spend with family & friends.

For GWS Photography as a business, it was a terrific year.
A full diary of weddings again, including our first booking as destination wedding photographers - that saw us do such a nice job we were added to the Italian venue's list of preferred photographers.
Some amazing weddings, and everyone was fabulous.
I genuinely mean it when I say we are privileged and honoured to be able to get to know so many fantastic families.

We also opened our new studio in September 2016, and we were instantly doing some exciting and fruitful shoots in there.

I also qualified fully with The Master Photographers Association, and later in the year winning two categories at The Scottish MPA Awards ... Reportage Photograph of the Year and Open Category too... a couple of Merits too.
Then in the UK Awards, 2 Merits there as well. That has got to be the highlight of the year. To have national recognition for my wedding work by my peers, and be amongst some amazing photographers and their work.

I even won a "Cool Dude" award in 2016 :)

We really do feel that in 2016 we hit a new gear in our photography and the service we offer, and we can only see that getting better from now on... working closely with some great wedding venues, and offering some fantastic portraiture in our studio.

But it wasn't an easy road this year, there were some big knocks along the way.
2016 was also tainted with sadness, and my heart felt thoughts go out to the family and friends of Staci & Lee and Lynsey & Jamie.
Personally though, the biggest blow of all - my own father passed away after his cancer took hold aggressively in October.
My Dad was a massive inspiration to me and the whole family and will be sorely missed. Every single good trait I have was instilled in me from my parents , with my Dad as the guiding light.
My Mum, sister and myself have challenges ahead to move on without being able to see our daddy again.

But we do indeed move on as best we can. We all do.
It's the challenges that life throws you that make you stronger if you rise up again, and again if you have to.

So the year has come to a close for us business wise as we take a holiday before entering 2017.
Next year is going to be even more exciting for us as we develop our portrait & wedding business to a whole new level.
We're striving forward and can't wait to get going - onwards & upwards.

Have a merry Christmas everyone, hug all your friends & family and be happy. Be the best you that you can - and come get your photo taken in 2017 !

G.x Thanks Dad.

Photo comment By Nancy Murphy: I ALWAYS knew you could do it and you knew too. I look at the wedding photographs and I am transported to that wedding, that venue. Of course the landscape photos always make me dream. You are an excellent photographer and I am so proud of you and the awards you have won and will continue to win. Love, Nancy
