Hannah & Michael's wedding at Carberry Tower

08th July 2016
I've covered a few weddings in recent years with couples that don't live in the area. Sometimes it's a family bond to Scotland that brings them back to be married here... or like Hannah & Michael it's because they looked around various family neutral venues and locations, and fell in love with Carberry Tower.
Our couple for this wedding now live in Australia, so as you can imagine, they had planned (and planned extremely well) from afar, right down to the table displays & flowers. Hannah from many thousands of miles away had organised this wedding with vision & passion.
The Elphinstone Room, for example, where the wedding breakfast was going to be was the best I had ever seen it.

Because this wedding was all planned from afar, I'd never met our bride & groom, nor even found them on Facebook to see what their interests are , and what they looked like - it all helps you know :)
So I'd arranged to drive out to Carberry to meet them on the Thursday, the day before the wedding. Unfortunately, it's the end of the school year and every teenage girl was planning parties & proms, and all the beauty bars were booked up, meaning that Hannah couldn't get away, so I met up with Michael on his own (well with Ethan & Grace two of the young 'uns from the family).
We had a wee chat , I showed Michael around the venue as if I worked there - well I am there that often at times :) I pointed out where the good spots are for photos for when it's nice weather, and for when it's NOT so nice weather.
And that's just as well, as on the day of the wedding right at the end of the ceremony it bucketed down !
As Graham Duff - Humanist Celebrant said at the end of the official proceedings "I see you've opted for the wet ending to the wedding!".

So on the day of the wedding, I got there a little bit early so I could meet Hannah, and set her at ease as best I could about the photos and having me hanging around all afternoon.
It was a gorgeous day at this point, and when I went outside with the groomsmen it was actually uncomfortably hot.
But this is Scotland mind lol.
I let the day carry on, just capturing things as they happened, only posing Hannah a couple of times when I needed a bit of bride in the pics... until through the ceremony and into the tropical rain.
To save as many nice dresses and suits as possibly, I dashed out in the rain with the staff from Carberry to get all my brollies out the car, so we could safely get all the guests into the lounge for family photos.

I then took our newly weds around a few of the rooms for some great inside pics with just the two of them... then lo-and-behold, the suns back out.
So yes, we took advantage and dashed outside for a few pics too.

It's all about being ready to work with the best scenario you have.

From here it was wedding breakfast time in the amazingly set up Elphinstone Room, a couple of speeches and a cake cut then I bidded a fond farewell to out traveling party.
It was nice being around the friends & family, Hannah & Michael are a lovely couple and their families were very welcoming.
I was super impressed with young Ethan too , a very mature and polite young man that did a great job of walking his mum down the aisle.

As it turned out, I met up with everyone the following morning when I turned up for Saturday's wedding.
Was odd seeing everyone again, but just as guests in the hotel now, not my wedding party (anymore).

So, there we have it, another super fab wedding at Carberry. The slideshow has the highlights , and the full portfolio will be available at the link below for everyone to look and if you want, order prints.
Anyone that filled in their email address will get a notification from us in a few days once Hannah & Michael have seen them all.

Many thanks to H&M for having me at their big day.
