Amy & Chris's wedding at The Apex in Edinburgh

26th July 2015
Well, I suppose I deserve all I get for boasting about our sunshine guarantee. We had 2 short spells of rain showers during the day of Amy & Chris's wedding - but both right when we needed 15 minutes of no rain. Typical eh. 3 or 4 years with perfect weather and I only needed a small window and showers came right then.

But - that's not to take away from Amy & Chris having a marvelous wedding at Edinburgh's Apex Hotel on Waterloo Place.
Amy looked beautiful in her slender dress, and Chris - in his wedding day kilt was rightly delighted when he saw Amy for the first time when she came into the room for the ceremony.

I'd spent an hour at their house in Wallyford before hand, but had to make a fast exit not knowing where I would get my car parked close enough to the venue to unload all my required gear. That's the only real problem with city centre wedding venues, you really have to plan, and still hope for a bit of luck when it comes to the logistics.
I must say too , all the staff that we encountered at The Apex were excellent. I'd been along a few weeks before hand for a look around, and then , and on the wedding day they were very helpful and courteous.

On the wedding day - our plan was to have taken ALL the guests up the steep climb of Calton Hill to do the family & group shots there - they would have been amazing photos.
I was dressed suitably in (slightly scruffier but ready for action) polo shirt and soft shoes instead of my suit, as I was prepared for chasing folk up and down the hill.
But alas, showers started just as we were about to go.
I'd almost talked Amy into going up after dinner - and I hung around for a wee bit longer to do that, and even though the rain had stopped, Amy made the call that it was too wet on the ground. Always the bride's prerogative.

We made use of what bits of the hotel weren't filled with holiday makers instead, before I shot off to start work on their portfolio immediately - as our annual holiday starts this week, and I was wanting to get the blog & slideshow out so Amy & Chris didn't have to wait two weeks.
Plus I come back to 4 weddings in 7 days, so my workflow is already crazy for August.
So one very late night through Saturday, and a 4am start on Sunday I can show you these samples of the wedding.

I'd like to thank Amy & Chris for having me at their big day, another lovely couple I have had the honour to work for.

The full portfolio is available now in our Gallery Section, but you'll need the password from Amy & Chris to view it.
