Aerial photo wins 2nd place in UK competition

05th September 2015
This was a nice email to receive while at a wedding last week... that I had won 2nd place in The Societies Aerial Photography competition.

The photo - of Dunbar's harbours, took a bit of planning, and lots (and lots) of trial/failed runs.
The sun had to be in the right place, tide, the boats had to be (mostly) in, not too windy... all in all I think I did about 8 versions of this until I got this one, with the mist in the distance a very lucky bonus.

10 minutes after I took this photo the full harbour area was fogged out.

We sold some prints and canvases of this shot - all as signed limited editions. Only 30 were made available and all are in good homes. Well all except No. 1 which is locked away waiting on a millionaire offering a crazy price to prize it out my hands :)

We sold quite a few for charity out of the 30 raising a few hundred pounds for Marie Curie.

So, thanks to the Societies for helping push me in my photography, and giving me projects away from weddings.

And if you are that person with too much money, but a 30" space on your wall... give me a call !

One of the many test shots

Photo comment By Moira Fenning: My Mum and Dad bought one of the canvasses. They absolutely love it.
Photo comment By Nancy Murphy: A very kind photographer in Dunbar gifted me one of these photos and I adore it! It has a place of honor on my wall surrounded by other photos taken by the kind, generous and talented camera man known as Grahame Smith.
Photo comment By Calum: Some amazing shots
